National Shipbuilding Strategy provides global growth opportunity for third-generation Nova Scotia boat builder
Irving Shipbuilding Inc. has awarded third-generation Nova Scotia boat builder Rosborough Boats a $7.3 million contract to provide Multi-Role Rescue Boats for the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS).
On September 7, Irving Shipbuilding President Kevin McCoy
spoke to DEFSEC Atlantic attendees and Halifax media on the progress of
building Canada’s Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) and economic benefits
of the National Shipbuilding Strategy.
To ensure Canadians are well informed, we want to provide more detail and perspective regarding media coverage of our hiring of an international contractor for installation of interior furnishings, such as the galley, living quarters, and washrooms, on the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) being constructed at the Halifax Shipyard.
On February 22, The Chronicle Herald published an article suggesting Irving Shipbuilding is hiring outside of Canada for positions at our Halifax Shipyard that could be filled by Canadians. This suggestion is false.
